Since 1881, Louis Sherry has shared the French chocolate-making tradition with New Yorkers, and over 100 years later, their chocolates are presented in a traditional tin recast from the original 19th-century box. This 12-piece tin made exclusively for The Met showcases a detail from Vincent van Gogh’s (Dutch, 1853–1890) Wheat Field with Cypresses (1889). The artist created this painting during his voluntary stay at the asylum in Saint-Rémy, and considered it to be one of his “best” summer landscapes.
